2015 Minor 2 Cup Competition

2015 has been a super year so far for Tyrrelstown CC Men’s team with the team recording their first competitive wins this season.

On 21st June the team won their first Minor Cup match against Merrion CC 8 by 9 runs .

Next up on the 12th July were Civil Service CC. Despite a poor start losing an early wicket 28/1 in 3 overs followed by 45/5 in 9 overs the team went on to win the match on a final score of 158 all out in 38 overs. There was some outstanding bowling in this match with Bharath taking no less than 6 wickets.

New Ground

Site visit to new ground

Claire Clifford, Sinead Webb and Kumar Varma Rudraraju with Paul Reynolds from Cricket Leinster during the site visit to our new ground with Fingal County Council

We met with representatives from Fingal County Council and Cricket Leinster in January to discuss the requirements for our new ground in Tyrrelstown Park. Our ground will be located to the North of the lake on the West side of the park. The plan is that the topsoil from building the new second level school will be used to create our ground and also to provide GAA and soccer playing pitches in the Park. It is hoped that we will have our ground within 12-18 months.

Volunteer Training

Our adult volunteers have also been busy over the Winter completing various training courses.

Coaching – Sinead, our Youth Development Officer is currently working on achieving the Cricket Ireland Certificate in Coaching Children. This course involves several months of work including attending training days along with various e-learning modules. In addition Sinead has also completed a Childrens Officer training course in February.

Umpiring – Claire, our Secretary and Kumar, our Chairperson, along with men’s team member Prakash attended an Introduction to the Laws of Cricket course run by Peter Thew from Cricket Leinster in Tyrrelstown Community Centre. We were delighted to be joined by some members of our neighbouring club Ashbourne Cricket Club who are also a new developing club. This course is an introductory course for Umpires and will be followed up by a Level 1 Umpiring course.

First Aid – Sinead and Claire attended a basic First Aid training course on 30th March which was organised by Cricket Leinster and held at the Order of Malta Headquarters in Ballsbridge.
